The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man. 3 He taught him eloquent speech. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure [of what is right]: 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 Husked grain and scented herb. 12 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He hath loosed the two seas. They meet. 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From them come forth the pearl and the coral. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 Also, His are the ships that run, raised up like mountains upon the sea. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
