And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 if you obey a human being just like yourselves, then you will surely be lost. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which you are promised. 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 This man has forged a mere lie in the name of Allah and we shall never believe what he says." 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 No nation will precede its time [of termination], nor will they remain [thereafter]. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and a clear authority 45 To Firon and his chiefs, but they behaved haughtily and they were an insolent people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. 50
