The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 So where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 but you shall not, unless Allah wills, the Lord of all the Worlds. 29
