The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem 1 Do people think that they will be let go merely by saying: “We believe,” and that they will not be tested, 2 We certainly tried those who have gone before them, so God will certainly distinguish between those who are truthful and those who are lying. 3 Do the evil-doers suppose that they will get the better of Us? How evil is their judgement! 4 Let him who looks forward to meeting Allah know that Allah's appointed term will surely come to pass. He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 5 And whosoever striveth, striveth only for himself, for lo! Allah is altogether Independent of (His) creatures. 6 And those who believe and do righteous deeds - We will surely remove from them their misdeeds and will surely reward them according to the best of what they used to do. 7 We have enjoined upon man kindness to his parents, but if they exert pressure on you to associate with Me in My Divinity any that you do not know (to be My associate), do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I shall let you know all that you have done. 8 We shall admit those who believe and do the right among the righteous. 9 Among people there are some who say: “We believe in Allah.” But when such a person is made to endure suffering in Allah's cause, he reckons the persecution he suffers at the hands of people as though it is a chastisement from Allah. But if victory comes from your Lord, the same person will say “We were with you.” Does Allah not know whatever is in the hearts of the people of the world? 10 Most certainly Allah knows the believers and the hypocrites. 11 Those who deny the truth say to the faithful, "Follow our way, and we will bear the burden of your sins." But they will bear none of their sins. They are surely lying. 12 They shall certainly carry their loads, and other loads along with their loads, and upon the Day of Resurrection they shall surely be questioned concerning that they were forging. 13
