Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 That you may firmly sit on their backs, then remember the favor of your Lord when you are firmly seated thereon, and say: Glory be to Him Who made this subservient to us and we were not able to do it 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 And from* His bondmen, they appointed a portion for Him; man is indeed an open ingrate. (* Appointed some of His creation as His sons and daughters). 15
