Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 raised couches, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
