He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and herbage 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
God the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
