The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
