The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
