The chiefs of the people of Fir'awn said: verily this is a magician knowing. 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 to bring together at the Pharaohs court all the skillful magicians. 112 And the magicians came to Pharaoh and asked, "Shall we have a reward, if we should prevail?" 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]." 115 He replied, "Throw yours first." Their great magic bewitched people's eyes and terrified them. 116 And We inspired Musa (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed. 117 ۞ Thus the truth prevailed, and that which they had brought vanished. 118 So they were vanquished there, and they turned about, humbled. 119 And the sorcerers prostrated themselves 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 The Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Pharaoh said, "You dare believe in Him before I have given you permission? Behold, this is indeed a plot which you have devised in this city in order to drive its people out. But you shall soon know the consequences, 123 I will cut off your hands and feet on the alternate sides and crucify you all." 124 They answered: "We have (in any case) to go back to our Lord. 125 Will you punish us just because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us? Our Lord! Shower us with perseverance and cause us to die as those who have submitted [to You].' 126
