The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
