The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
