A company of the former peoples 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 41 They will be in the midst of scorching wind and boiling water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 neither cool nor refreshing. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 and they used to say, "What! After we have died and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up again? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth 51 Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum 52 "Then you will fill your bellies therewith, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 "So you will drink (that) like thirsty camels!" 55 This is their entertainment on the day of requital. 56 We created you. Will ye then admit the truth? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Create him ye, or are We the Creator? 59 We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind? 62 Ponder upon the soil you till, 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 We could turn it, if We pleased, into straw; then you would rue the day, 65 "We are ruined, 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Produce ye the tree thereof, or are We the Producer? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
