The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
