Thamud (people) belied the Messenger. 141 When their fellowman Saleh said to them, “Do you not fear?” 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 "So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 145 Will ye be left secure in that which is here before us, 146 amidst gardens and springs 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 "And ye carve houses out of (rocky) mountains with great skill. 149 "But fear Allah and obey me; 150 do not obey the bidding of those who are given to excesses, 151 Who spread corruption in the earth, and reform not. 152 They replied: 'Surely, you are one of those bewitched. 153 you are no different from a mortal like us. So produce a sign if you are truthful." 154 He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day. 155 and do not touch her with malice so that there seize you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 156 So they hamstrung her, and in the morning could only regret. 157 So the chastisement seized them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
