The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
