The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
