We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 (Iblis) said: "I am not one to prostrate myself to man, whom Thou didst create from sounding clay, from mud moulded into shape." 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 until the day of a known time." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
