The Companions of the Wood rejected the messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 I am for you a faithful Messenger, so fear you God, and obey you me. 178 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss. 181 "And weigh with the true and straight balance. 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 “And fear Him Who created you and the earlier creations.” 184 They said: "You are only one of those bewitched! 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 But in case you are speaking the truth, then make a segment of the sky to fall upon us." 187 He said: "My Lord knows best what ye do." 188 Then they belied him; wherefore there laid hold of them the torment of day of shadow. Verily it was the torment of a Mighty Day. 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 191
