The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
