Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
We sent Noah forth to his people, saying, "Warn your people before there comes upon them a grievous punishment." 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 "He (Allah) will forgive you of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Verily, the term of Allah when it comes, cannot be delayed, if you but knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 And verily so oft as I call them, that Thou mayest forgive them, they place their fingers into their ears, and wrap themselves with their garments, and persist, and are stiff-necked. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 and, behold I preached to them in public; and I spoke to them secretly, in private; 9 And I have said: Seek pardon of your Lord. Lo! He was ever Forgiving. 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 What is the matter with you that you deny the greatness of God, 13 ‘Whereas it is He Who created you in different stages?’ 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 And made the moon therein a light, and made the sun a lamp? 16 how God has produced you from the earth and caused you to grow, 17 and [then] He will bring you forth [from It] in resurrection. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
