The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
