(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa? 36 and of Abraham, who lived up to the trust? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that man will not obtain anything except what he strove for? 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then shall he be rewarded for it with the fullest reward- 41 To your Lord will all things eventually return. 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that it is He Who causeth to die and causeth to live. 44 And that He (Allah) creates the pairs, male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 and that it is He who gives riches and causes to hoard, 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 And that it is He Who threw down the upturned townships? 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 And you laugh and do not weep 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
