The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 The heavens and its architecture, 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 and inspired it with knowledge of evil and piety, 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 But the Messenger of Allah said to them: "It is a She-camel of Allah! And (bar her not from) having her drink!" 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 And He does not fear the consequence thereof. 15
