The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it plunges, 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It [the Quran] is nothing but revelation sent down to him. 4 Taught to him by one intense in strength - 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 And he was on the horizon of the highest heaven. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 And was at a distance of two bow lengths or nearer. 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will ye therefore dispute with him concerning that which he hath seen? 12 For indeed he saw him at a second descent, 13 by the Lote-Tree of the Boundary 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 To Allah belongs the Eternal life and the first life. 25
