We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
