۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said: "Have you brought us the truth, or are you one of those who play about?" 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 Then he broke them all into pieces, sparing only the supreme one among them that they may possibly return to him. 58 They said, "Who has done this to our gods? He must indeed be some man of impiety!" 59 Some of them said: "We heard a youth called Abraham speak (ill) of them." 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 So they returned one to another saying, 'Surely, it is you who are the harmdoers' 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said: O fire, be coolness and peace for Abraham, 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 and We saved him and Lot and brought him to the land upon which We had bestowed Our blessings for all the people of the world. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge, and saved him from a people who acted villainously and were certainly wicked and disobedient. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy; indeed he is among those who deserve Our proximity. 75
