The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 Yet if they see a sign (the unbelievers) turn their backs and say: 'This is but a continuation of sorcery' 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 And certainly some narratives have come to them wherein is prevention-- 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 We bore him on an [ark] which, made of planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And certainly We left it as a sign, but is there anyone who 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
