The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
