The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
And by the sun and its brightness; 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He is indeed successful who causeth it to grow, 9 And indeed failed is the one who covered it in sin. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 But they gave him the lie, and hamstrung the she-camel. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime and razed their city to the ground. 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
