88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sad. By the renowned Qur'an, 1 Nay, but those who disbelieve are in false pride and schism. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a marvellous thing.' 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 We have heard nothing like this in the latest religion. This is only his own false invention. 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
