The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
