When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 "And fear Allah and disgrace me not." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
