The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
