The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 For him among you who pleases to go straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
