He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
