And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 And if you should obey a man like yourselves, indeed, you would then be losers. 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ "Far, very far is that which you are promised. 36 There is no life beyond our life in this world: we die and we live [but once,] and we shall never be raised from the dead! 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 He said: In a little while they surely will become repentant. 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 No nation can go before its term ends nor stay back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 They called them liars and consequently were destroyed. 48 And certainly We gave Musa the Book that they may follow a right direction. 49 and We made Mary's son, and his mother, to be a sign, and gave them refuge upon a height, where was a hollow and a spring: 50
