The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and give warning! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 and purify your clothing, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
