The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great event, 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
