The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
