And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 “They are all my enemies, except the Lord Of The Creation.” 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will say while they dispute therein, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
