The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
