The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 For every soul there is a watcher. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
