A throng of the ancients 39 and a large group of those of later times. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 Amidst scorching wind and scalding water. 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 [shadows] neither cooling nor soothing. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and persisted in the Great Sin, 46 And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients' 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day' 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers 51 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Do you create it, or We are its creator? 59 We have incorporated death in your constitution, and We shall not be hindered 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Behold! that which ye sow. 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing): 66 Nay, but we are deprived! 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its tree grow or was it We Who made it grow? 72 We made it a reminder and a provision for the needy. 73 Then magnify the Name of thy Lord, the All-mighty. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
