Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Does man (a disbeliever) think that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yes indeed; We have the power to remould even his finger-tips. 4 In fact man wishes to commit evil in front of Him! 5 He asks, "When will be the Day of Judgment?" 6 So when the eyes will be blinded by light. 7 And the moon becomes dark, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 even though he might make up excuses. 15 Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. 16 It is for Us to collect it and to promulgate it: 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 And thereafter verily upon us is the expounding thereof. 19 Not [as you think, that you (mankind) will not be resurrected and recompensed for your deeds], but (you men) love the present life of this world, 20 And leave the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
