The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the people of the right hand 38
