The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
