The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
