And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting. 45 He said: "O my people! Why do you seek to hasten the evil (torment) before the good (Allah's Mercy)? Why seek you not the Forgiveness of Allah, that you may receive mercy?" 46 They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested." 47 Now there were nine ring-leaders in the city who created corruption in the land and never worked to set things right. 48 They said: swear by God one to another that we shall surely fall upon him and his household by night and thereafter we shall surely say unto his heir; we witnessed not the destruction of his household, and verily we are truthtellers. 49 They hatched up the plot; We also planned without their knowledge. 50 See, then, what the consequences of their plan were. We destroyed them and their people utterly, all together. 51 Those are their empty houses which We ruined because of their injustice. In this there is evidence (of the truth) for the people of knowledge. 52 We saved the faithful God-fearing believers. 53 Lot asked his people, "Do you understandably commit indecency? 54 What! do you indeed approach men lustfully rather than women? Nay, you are a people who act ignorantly. 55 ۞ His people had no answer but to say, "Expel Lot and his family from the town for they want to be pure." 56 We saved (Lot) and his family except his wife who was destined to remain behind. 57 And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned. 58
