(Before this,) We sent Moses The Book, and appointed his brother Aaron with him as minister; 35 And We said, "Go both of you to the people who have denied Our signs." Then We destroyed them with [complete] destruction. 36 We had drowned the people of Noah when they had accused the apostles of lies, and turned them into an example for men. We have prepared a painful punishment for the wicked. 37 And the tribes of A’ad and the Thamud, and the people of the Wells, and many a generation between them. 38 And to every one We gave examples and every one did We destroy with utter destruction. 39 They have surely passed by the village which was rained upon by evil rain (of stones); what, have they never seen it? No, they look for no resurrection. 40 When they see you they take you only in jest: "Is this the one whom God has sent as messenger? 41 Well nigh he had led us astray from our gods if we had not persevered towards them. Presently they shall know, when they behold the torment, who is more astray in respect of path. 42 Seest thou such a one as taketh for his god his own passion (or impulse)? Couldst thou be a disposer of affairs for him? 43 Do you think that most of them listen and understand? They are like cattle or even more, straying and confused. 44
